Senior Chief Mike Curtis, a native of Salisbury, Maryland, enlisted in the Navy in March 1998 and upon graduation from boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended SONAR Technician (Surface) Apprenticeship and “ C ” School in San Diego.
Curtis’ sea duty assignments include: USS Nicholson (DD 982); Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron 4; USS Gravely (DDG 107), where he advanced to Chief Petty Officer, then served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer for Combat Acoustics Division; and most recently, Command Senior Enlisted Leader aboard USS Hué City (CG 66).
Ashore, Curtis’ assignments include: Naval Ocean Processing Facility; Recruiter-In-Charge of Navy Recruiting Station Lynnhaven, which is part of Navy Recruiting District Richmond; and Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer at the Naval Ocean Processing Facility.
Curtis' awards and decorations include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), and numerous individual, campaign, and unit awards.
