Capt. Charles E. Hampton, a native of Corpus Christi, Texas, is a 1991 graduate of Texas A&M University, where he received bachelor’s degree and commissioning.
Hampton’s sea duty assignments include: First Lieutenant aboard USS Ford (FFG 54), where he completed a deployment to the Arabian Gulf; Navigator aboard the Pre-Commissioning Unit Howard (DDG 83); Department Head tours as Weapons and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81), where he completed two deployments to the Arabian Gulf; Executive Officer aboard USS Donald Cook (DDG 75), where he fleeted up and also served as the Commanding Officer; and most recently, Commanding Officer aboard USS Normandy (CG 60).
Ashore, Hampton’s assignments include: Navigation, Seamanship, and Shiphandling Instructor at the Surface Warfare Officers School; Ballistic Missile Defense Action Officer on the staff of Fleet Forces Command; Special Assistant to the Commander, US Fleet Forces Command; and Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff at U.S. Fleet Forces Command.
Hampton holds a master’s in Education Training and Management from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s in National Military Strategy from the U.S. Marine Corps University.
His personal awards include the Admiral Arleigh Burke Surface Warfare Operational Excellence Award and two Junior Officer Awards for Tactics Excellence. Captain Hampton also received the Navy and Marine Association Leadership Award along with several other campaign and service awards.
