CDR Lawrence Heyworth IV is a native of Annapolis, Maryland. A 2005 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, he holds a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University.
At sea, he served as Auxiliaries Officer, Force Protection Assistant, and Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) Boarding Officer in USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG 93); as Navigator in USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD 43); as Operations Officer in USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL (DDG 81); and as Executive Officer in USS SENTRY (MCM 3).
CDR Heyworth commanded USS SENTRY (MCM 3) from December 2015 to April 2017.
Ashore, he served as a liaison officer to the United States Senate as part of the Navy's Office of Legislative Affairs, and as Flag Secretary to the Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy, where he also qualified as an Offshore Skipper onboard Navy 44 Sail Training Craft.
CDR Heyworth maintains a U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential as Master, 1600 tons (upon oceans) and Second Mate, unlimited tonnage (upon oceans).
