Cmdr. Donald Curran

Cmdr. Curran graduated from Florida Southern College. He received his commission through Officer Candidate School in 2001.
His first at-sea assignment was in USS KLAKRING (FFG 42) where he served as Combat Information Center Officer. His next at-sea assignment was as Training and Readiness Officer in USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79). Following Department Head School, he reported to USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60) as Weapons Officer and fleeted up to be Combat Systems Officer.
Ashore, Curran attended Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey California where he earned a Master of Arts Degree in National Security Affairs with a Focus on the Far East. Following his department head tours, Curran served on the staff of Commander, US Pacific Fleet as Deputy for Integrated Air and Missile Defense. He then served on the staff of Commander Naval Surface Forces Atlantic as the Deputy Assistant Chief Of Staff for Command, Control, Communications, Combat Systems, Cyber and Intelligence.
Curran currently serves as the Commanding Officer onboard USS NITZE (DDG 94).
Curran’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
