 Commander Adam S. Miller is a native of Fairmont, West Virginia and a 2004 graduate of the United States Naval Academy.  He earned a Master of Professional Studies degree from the University of Maryland and a Master of Arts degree from the United States Naval War College. 

A career surface warfare officer, Miller served aboard USS Russell (DDG 59) as Damage Control Assistant, USS Decatur (DDG 73) as Navigator, USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110) as Operations Officer, and Destroyer Squadron 21 as N3/5 Operations Officer. 

Ashore, Miller enjoyed leadership positions at the United States Naval Academy as 8th Company Officer and most recently as Deputy Chairman of the Department of Seamanship and Navigation.  He also served on the headquarters staff of the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center as the anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare mission areas lead for doctrine and tactics.

Miller is an Anti-Submarine/Anti-Surface Warfare Tactics Instructor and qualified Officer-in-Charge of Yard Patrol craft.  Personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards).
