Cmdr. Jason DeBlock graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering. He holds a master’s in Business Administration from the University of Rochester.
DeBlock’s sea assignments include: service aboard USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62); Reactor Mechanical Division Officer aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65); Operations Officer aboard USS Bulkely (DDG 84); Reactor Training Assistant aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65); Executive Officer aboard USS Princeton (CG 59); and most recently, he reported assumed the duties as commanding officer aboard USS Truxtun (DDG 103), November 2019. During these tours, he deployed to the European, Pacific, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility.
Ashore, DeBlock completed nuclear power training, served as a Defense Legislative Fellow on the staff of Congressman Maurice Hinchey in the 112th Congress, as the Surface Nuclear Program Manager in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations for Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education (N1), and served as a politico-military affairs planner and executive assistant in the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate, Joint Staff, J5. He is a Joint Qualified Officer.
His personal decorations and awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit commendations, campaign medals, and service ribbons.
