Cmdr. Ray Glenn enlisted in the Navy in 1992.  After Recruit Training, he attended both Naval Nuclear Field Apprenticeship School and Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida. From there he went to his first sea tour aboard USS Frank Cable (AS 40). While onboard Glenn was selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program (ECP). He received his commission through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps after graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of South Carolina. After commissioning, Glenn attended the Surface Warfare Officer School’s Division Officer’s Course in Newport, Rhode Island.

His initial officer sea tour was aboard USS Ticonderoga (CG 47) as Gunnery Officer. Other sea tours include: Machinery One Division Officer aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73), Operations Officer aboard USS Cole (DDG 67), Main Propulsion Assistant aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), and Executive Officer aboard USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79) and USS Gonzalez (DDG 66).

Glenn’s shore tours include a tour on the seagoing staff of Commander Strike Force Training Atlantic (Carrier Strike Group 4), where he coordinated live exercise training for COMPTUEX and JTFEX. Other shore tours include: The staff of Commander Pacific Fleet where he served as a nuclear inspector on the Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board, military analyst on the Joint Staff, J7 as part of the Joint Coalition for Operational Analysis division, and on the staff of Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic as a senior readiness assessor in the N44 department.

Glenn has also completed his nuclear engineer’s qualification with Naval Reactors. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service medal, the Meritorious Service medal, Navy Commendation medal (3 awards), and the Navy Achievement medal (3 awards).
