Command Master Chief, USS Monterey (CG 61)

Command Master Chief (Surface Warfare/Air Warfare) H. Wayne Allen Jr. is a native of the Gulf Coast of Texas. He graduated from Sweeny High School in 1997, enlisted in the Navy in December 2001, and attended Recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL. After that, he completed Electronic Warfare 'A' and 'C' schools at Naval Technical Training Center Corry Station Pensacola, FL.
He reported aboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) in May 2003 as an Electronic Warfare Technician. On the JFK, he survived the EW/CTT merger, and deployed in support of OIF. He earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualifications.
He then reported to Center for Information Dominance in May 2006 where he was Course Manager for the AN/SLQ-32A(V)4 Maintenance Course, and earned designation as a Master Training Specialist. He was also assigned as Leading Petty Officer of Charlie Battalion, where he served as a Naval Military Training Instructor.
In January 2010, he reported aboard USS Cape St. George (CG 71) where he served as OT Division Leading Chief Petty Officer, and deployed twice in support of OND and OEF. He also completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University.
In August 2013, he reported to Afloat Training Group Mayport, FL where he served as Combat Systems Team Lead. There, he earned the Afloat Training Specialist designation, attended the Senior Enlisted Academy, and was selected into the Command Senior Chief Program.
In 2016, he precommissioned LCS Crew 115 Scorpions and the USS Little Rock (LCS 9) homeported in Mayport, FL, where he was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer. His crew took Little Rock through post-commissioning certification events and Post Sail-away Availability.
He currently serves aboard USS Monterey (CG 61) as the Command Master Chief.
His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medal (6), Navy Good Conduct Medal (5), and various unit and campaign awards.
