LCDR Grant Barrett is a native of Tehachapi, California. He graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1999 as an Electronics Technician (Radio) serving in USS PASADENA (SSN 752). He received his commission in 2011 from Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island.
 
LCDR Barrett’s shipboard assignments include: USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60) as Strike Officer, USS CHOSIN (CG 65) as Damage Control Assistant and USS CHAFEE (DDG 90) as Chief Engineer. Ashore, he attended Naval Post-Graduate School in Monterey, California where he earned his Masters Degree in Financial Management and completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1. Following Naval Post-Graduate School he was assigned to Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, Rhode Island where he was the Cruiser Gas Turbine Lead Instructor.
 
LCDR Barrett’s awards include Navy/Marine Corps Commendation (two awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various other unit and campaign awards.
