Commander Meyers is a native of Kankakee, IL. After enlisting in 1992 he trained and served as an Aviation Electronics Technician until 1997 serving in Strike Fighter Squadrons 192 and 113. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology from Marquette University and a Masters of Business Administration from Villanova University. He was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program in May 2001 and was designated a Surface Warfare Officer in October 2002.
His sea duty assignments include Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and Damage Control Assistant in USS DE WERT (FFG 45); Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79); and Executive Officer in USS FARRAGUT (DDG 99).
Ashore, he served as Senior Advisor and Assistant Professor of Naval Science, Villanova University; Maritime Warfare Instructor and Air and Missile Defense Cell Lead, Surface Warfare Officers School Command; and as J3NW Nuclear Operations Branch Chief at United States Strategic Command.
Most recently he commanded USS FARRAGUT (DDG 99)from June 2020 to November 2021 and USS PAUL IGNATIUS (DDG 117) from January to March 2022.
His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and multiple Navy Commendation Medals.
