Cmdr. Eric E. Meyers is a native of Kankakee, Ill. He graduated from Marquette University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems/Business Administration and received his commission through the NROTC program. He furthered his education with a Master of Business Administration from Villanova University in 2007.

Following his commissioning, Meyers served his division officer tours as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and Damage Control Assistant on USS De Wert (FFG 45). He served his department head tours as the Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer on USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79).

Ashore, he served as Senior Advisor and Assistant Professor of Naval Science at Villanova University, Maritime Warfare Instructor and Air and Missile Defense Cell Lead at Surface Warfare Officers School Command, and as J3NW Nuclear Operations Branch Chief at United States Strategic Command.

After serving as Executive Officer from October 2018 to April 2020, Meyers assumed command of USS Farragut (DDG 99) on 19 June 2020 as the ship’s eleventh commanding officer.
