Capt. Todd Zenner

Capt. Todd C. Zenner is a native of Cotulla, Texas. He graduated with distinction and was commissioned from the United States Naval Academy in 1997. He holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Texas, and he is also a 2019 graduate of the Joint and Combined Warfighting School at the Joint Forces Staff College.
Capt. Zenner commanded USS Forrest Sherman (DDG-98) and deployed to the Fifth Fleet, participating in Operation Inherent Resolve while also conducting maritime operations in the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea; he served as the ship’s Executive Officer prior to assuming command. After his command tour, Capt. Zenner served as the Reactor Officer aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) where he executed dynamic force employment during two deployments to the Sixth Fleet that included operations in the Eastern Mediterranean and the High North. Capt. Zenner deployed again to the Fifth, Sixth, Second, and Fourth Fleets as the Deputy Commander of Destroyer Squadron Two Eight and now serves as Commander, Destroyer Squadron TWO EIGHT.
Capt. Zenner completed sea assignments aboard USS Spruance (DD-963) as the Fire Control Officer, USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) as the Reactor Training Division Officer, USS Nicholas (FFG-47) as the Combat Systems Officer, and USS Enterprise (CVN-65) as the Reactor Controls Assistant, supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His shore duty assignments include the Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer Community Manager at the Navy Personnel Command as well as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Director for Politico-Military Affairs Asia at the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate (J-5) of the Joint Staff.
Capt. Zenner’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, and multiple awards of the Joint Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
