Biographies

Chavius G. Lewis

Cmdr.

26 September 2020 Cmdr. Chavius Lewis is a native of Georgia and a graduate of Georgia Southern University. He was commissioned as an ensign through Officer Candidate School.

His initial sea tour was aboard USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) where he served as Weapons Officer. His second division officer tour was aboard USS Cole (DDG 67) where he served as Assistant Operations Officer. As a Department Head, he served as Weapons Control Officer and Combat System Officer in USS Cole (DDG 67). He was Commanding Officer of Mine Counter Measure Rotational Crew Conflict aboard USS Pioneer (MCM 9) and deployed to the Arabian Gulf in command of USS Ardent (MCM 12).
 
Ashore, Cmdr. Lewis first served as a naval aide to Cmdr. Amphibious Task Force Seventy Six in Okinawa, Japan. Cmdr. Lewis is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned a Master of Business Administration and completed JPME Phase I. He also served on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations as the Deputy Mine Warfare Branch Head in OPNAV N95. Cmdr. Lewis participated as a military fellow in the Counterterrorism and Public Policy program at Duke University. He then went on to serve as a deliberate planner at NAVCENT.
 
His personal awards include the Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal as well as multiple unit and service awards.
