Biographies

Erich Udo Schaller

CMDR.

24 September 2020 Cmdr. Schaller was commissioned through the Naval ROTC program at the University of New Mexico in May of 1999, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science.

His previous tours at sea have included serving as Executive Officer in USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48), Assistant for Surface Operations on the Staff of Commander, Carrier Strike Group ONE, Operations Officer in GOLD Crew, USS FREEDOM (LCS 1), Combat Systems Officer in USS FORD (FFG 54), and division officer tours as Fire Control Officer in USS WASP (LHD 1) and Damage Control Assistant in USS MITSCHER (DDG 57).
 
Ashore, he was the Director for Combat Systems training and assessments with Afloat Training Group Mayport and the Plankowner N6 (Networks/Combat Systems) Department Head at Littoral Combat Ship Squadron TWO in Mayport, FL.  He also served as lead instructor for the Tomahawk Mission Planning course at NMITC Dam Neck, VA and completed an Individual Augmentation tour with USCENTCOM J5 (Plans & Policy) in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. He was awarded a Master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI, earning distinction for his thesis.

Cmdr. Schaller assumed the duties as Executive Officer of Afloat Training Group Mayport in January 2019
