Command Master Chief, USS Lassen (DDG 82)

Command Master Chief Richey enlisted in the Navy in May 1998 from Billings, Montana. He attended Recruit Training Command Great Lakes in Chicago, Illinois, completed basic training camp and transferred to Orlando, Florida for Nuclear Field A School for completion of MM ‘A’ School and was advanced to Third Class Petty Officer. Following ‘A’ School, he reported to Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston for Nuclear Power School, then completed his final Nuclear Operator certification at Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston.
Command Master Chief Richey’s sea duty assignments include USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75), USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN 77), and most recently as Reactor Department Master Chief on USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70).
His shores tour include Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston (Instructor), Commander Naval Air Forces Atlantic (Nuclear Power Mobile Training Team), Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston (MTS 626 CMC), and Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston (MTS 701 CMC).
He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 209 Gold) and of the Command Master Chief Course (Class 24040).
His current assignment is Command Master Chief, USS LASSEN (DDG 82)
Master Chief Richey’s personal decorations include the Enlisted Surface Warfare and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialists designators, the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Good Conduct Medal (nine awards) and various other unit awards, campaign and service decorations.
