 Master Chief Thomason is a native of Excel, Alabama. He completed Recruit Training and Hospital Corpsman (HM) “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois. He earned an Associate Degree from Columbia College of Missouri and a Bachelor’s Degree from Trident University.

Operationally, he served as Medical Department Leading Petty Officer aboard USS Carney (DDG 64); Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL) of Bravo Surgical Company, 2nd Medical Battalion, 2nd Marline Logistics Group; and Command Master Chief aboard USS Mitscher (DDG 57) and USS New York (LPD 21).

His staff and shore assignments include: General Duty HM and Emergency Medical Technician at Naval Hospital Cherry Point, NC; Instructor at Naval Hospital Corps School Great Lakes, IL; SEL in U.S. Naval Hospital Naples, Italy; and Lead HM Enlisted Community Manager and Technical Advisor in BUPERS-3, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, TN.

He reported to Afloat Training Group Norfolk in June 2023, where he currently serves as Command Master Chief.

Master Chief Thomason is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 170 Blue) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 18120). He is designated as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist, and Master Training Specialist. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and various unit and service awards. He was selected as the 2007 Vice Chief of Naval Operations Shore Activities Sailor of the Year.
