NORFOLK, Va - Medal of Honor Recipient, Hershel “Woody” Williams signs commemorative commissioning programs and poses for photos during a reception following the commissioning of the USS Hershel “Woody” Williams (ESB-4). The commissioning occurred on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Decker Half Moone Cruise Center behind the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. Williams is the only surviving WWII Medal of Honor Recipient from the Battle of Iwo Jima, which raged from February through March 1945. (US Navy Photo by Max Lonzanida/Released).
