Born in Chicago, IL August 9, 1985 Senior Chief Sheard graduated from Thornridge High School May 31, 2003. He enlisted in the United States Navy July 2, 2003 and attended RTC Great Lakes Recruit Training Command as a Seaman Apprentice. Upon graduation he reported to the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN CVN-72, homeported in Everett, WA. He was stationed onboard from October 2003 - February 2005. He was then selected for “CS” A School in San Antonio, TX.
April 2005, he reported to USS OGDEN LPD-5, homeported in San Diego, CA and worked as a Cook on Watch, while assuming the duties as S-2 Damage Control Petty Officer. During his 2 year tour, he did a West Pacific deployment and earned his Surface Warfare Qualification. He advanced to Third Class under the Command Advancement Program. After decommissioning the ship, he reported USS GERMANTOWN LSD-42 homeported in San Diego; Ca. job assignments included Night Baker and Watch Captain.
June 2008, he reported for duty onboard Naval Medical Center San Diego, became a Diet Technician, there he screened over 650 patients and ensured that they were on the proper diet. He deployed on the USNS MERCY T-AH 19 for Pacific Partnership 2010.
July 2011, reported onboard USS NICHOLAS FFG-47, homeported in Norfolk, Va. completed two deployments, which included a counter piracy and counter drug operations in South America and Africa.
Other commands include USS CARTER HALL LSD-50, Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, USS MONTEREY CG-61, and USS IWO JIMA LHD-7. CMDCS Sheard is currently the blue crew CSEL for the USS PULLER ESB-3.
CMDCS Sheard’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Iraqi campaign Medal.
