Command Master Chief Paul Roberts is a native of Massachusetts and enlisted in the Navy in March 2004. Upon completion of Electrician’s Mate “A” school and Naval Nuclear Power School in Charleston, SC, he completed his training at Naval Nuclear Propulsion Training Unit in Ballston Spa, NY.
In 2005, he reported to USS Augusta (SSN 710) in Groton, CT, earning his Silver Dolphins. In 2007, Roberts served onboard Historic Ship Nautilus (SSN 571). In 2009, he reported aboard USS Defender (MCM 2) in Sasebo, Japan. After a successful INSURV inspection in 2011, he transferred to Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) in San Diego, CA. In 2012, Roberts transferred to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME, as the lead tug engineer, where he was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 2013. In 2015, he transferred to USS Ross (DDG 71) in Rota, Spain, to serve as Maintenance and Material Management Program Coordinator (3MC). In 2020, he reported to Navy Talent Acquisition Group New England in Boston, MA. Selected for the Command Senior Enlisted Leader program in 2022, he reported to USS Montgomery (LCS 8) in San Diego, CA to serve as the Command Senior Chief. Following promotion to Master Chief, he assumed the duties of Command Master Chief onboard USS Paul Ignatius (DDG 117) in Rota, Spain as of April, 2025.
Roberts attended the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 239) and has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and other various unit and campaign awards.
