Command Senior Chief, USS Dextrous (MCM 13)

Senior Chief Joshua Cox is a native of Gatesville, Texas and a 1996 graduate of Gatesville High School. He entered the Navy in June 2001 and completed boot camp at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois in August of the same year. Initially, he reported to NATTC Pensacola, Florida and completed Aviation Mechanic “A” School. Shortly after reporting to VF-101 Grim Reapers at NAS Oceania, Virginia, he cross rated to Master-At-Arms in 2003. Having served at sea and ashore, he was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2013. Cox holds an Associate in Criminal Justice and Aviation Technology from Coastline College and is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class (238 Khaki). And was selected into the Command Senior Chief program in 2022.
Sea tours include duty on various MSC vessels throughout the Fifth Fleet AOR while assigned to Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron-3 and Coastal Riverine Squadron-2 Dets in Bahrain, Navy Mobile Construction Battalion-133 out of Gulf Port, Mississippi with deployments to Okinawa, Japan and Afghanistan and Bravo Company Senior Enlisted Advisor Marine Corps Security Force Battalion Kings Bay, Georgia. Overseas tours include duty as a Watch Commander at NSA Gaeta, Italy. Additionally, he served as an Investigator in Baghdad, Iraq during an Individual Augmentee tour.
Ashore, he served as a Security Watch Commander at NAS Pensacola, Florida, Harbor Patrol Unit Leading Chief Petty Officer/Investigator at NAS Mayport, Florida and N34 Senior Enlisted Advisor at Command Navy Region South East, Jacksonville, Florida. Senior Cox breifly assumed the duties of Command Senior Chief at Navy Support Activity Panama City from April-June 2021. He is currently assigned to the USS DEXTROUS (MCM 13) as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
His awards include Joint Commendation Medal (IRQ), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), Good Conduct Medal (seven awards), NATO medal (AFG) and various unit and campaign awards. He is Expeditionary and Seabee Combat Warfare qualified.
