Master Chief Roeder is a native of Denver, Colorado. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1996. He graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 207, Gray) and Southern New Hampshire University with an Associates of Science Degree. After completion of basic training, he attended Hospital Corpsman “A” School, Field Medical Service School and subsequent Surgical Technician “C” School.
His operational assignments included Fleet Hospital 3, Camp Viper, Iraq; Surgical Shock Trauma Platoon, Habbaniyah, Iraq; Charlie Surgical Company, 2nd Medical Battalion; 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines; Battalion Landing Team 2/6, USS KEARSARGE; 10th Marine Regiment; 6th Marine Regiment; and as the Command Master Chief for 2nd Dental Battalion.
Ashore he served at Naval Hospital Beaufort, SC; Naval Hospital, Keflavik Iceland; Naval Hospital Pensacola; High-Risk Instructor for the Center for Security Forces, Riverine Training Detachment; and as the Command Master Chief for Expeditionary Medical Facility Kilo at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune.
Currently Master Chief Roeder is serving as the CMC of USS Carney (DDG-64)
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), and various unit and campaign awards. He is qualified as an Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Master Training Specialist.
