CDR Jeffrey Applebaugh is a native of Auburn, N.H. and graduated in 2005 from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation and a 3rd Mate's Unlimited Tonnage Open Ocean USCG License. He earned his Master of Professional Studies in Leadership, Education and Student Development from the University of Maryland College Park in May 2010. CDR Applebaugh is an Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI), graduating with class 19010.
At sea, he served as Communications Officer aboard USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52); Fire Control Officer and Systems Test Officer aboard USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66); Operations Officer aboard USS STOUT (DDG 55), Combat System Officer aboard USS NORMANDY (CG 60), and as Executive Officer aboard USS STOUT (DDG 55).
His initial shore assignment was at the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD in the LEAD Program. Following completion of his master's degree, he served as 14th Company Officer. Following his department head tours, CDR Applebaugh served as the Naval Integrated Fire Control Requirements Officer at the Office of the Chief of Naval Operation in the Surface Warfare Division (N96) an as an Action Officer in the Functional Integration Department at the Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) Headquarters.
Commander Applebaugh's decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various service and campaign awards.
