Bryan is a native of Colorado and Alaska, and a graduate from the US Naval Academy (2005) with a BS in Chemistry. He earned a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School (2013).
His initial sea tour was aboard USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) as the Gunnery Officer and First Lieutenant forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan. His second sea tour was as Damage Control Assistant aboard USS Ford (FFG 54) deploying in support of counter illicit trafficking operations off the coast of South America and in the South Pacific. His department head tours were aboard USS Momsen (DDG 92) and USS Normandy (CG 60) as Chief Engineer where he completed an around the world “Magellan” deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve & Operation Key Master in the Arabian Gulf, and Freedom of Navigation Operations in the South China Sea with the Theodore Roosevelt Strike Group.
Ashore he served in the Defense Attaché Office at the US Embassy in Conakry, Guinea, Flag Aide/Executive Officer to Commander, Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia and Commander, Maritime Air Naples. He also served as Flag Aide to Fifth Fleet Shore Battle Space Task Force Commander in Bahrain. After completing Joint Staff College, he served as the Future Operations Chief (J35) and Maritime Planner at the Combined Headquarters of Alaskan Command and the Alaskan NORAD Region as a joint qualified officer.
