A native of Nebraska, Command Master Chief Heinrich graduated from High School in 1987 and enlisted in the Navy 21 February 1989. He attended basic training at RTC Great Lakes, IL. and then Patternmaker "A" and "J" schools.

He served onboard the USS CANOPUS AS-34 stationed in Kings Bay, GA. and Naval Submarine Support Facility Groton, CT. During these tours he served as Work Center Supervisor and Leading Petty Officer.

In 1997, after the disestablishment of the Patternmaker rate, he completed Builder "A" school in Gulfport, MS. In April 1997 he reported to his first Seabee assignment, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE in Port Hueneme, CA.  He served as a project crew leader, project supervisor and Assistant Officer-In-Charge of Detail Diego Garcia. He made deployments to Rota, Spain; Souda Bay, Crete; Guam; Thailand; Nairobi, Kenya and Diego Garcia.

In 2001, he transferred to Naval Construction Training Center Port Hueneme, CA as the Builder School Director. He advanced to Chief Petty Officer and Senior Chief Petty Officer while stationed there.

In July 2004, he transferred to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FOUR where he served as Air Detachment Chief and Battalion Operations Chief.  He made deployments to Rota, Spain and two tours to Iraq; Fort Suse and Ramadi.

In November 2007, Master Chief Heinrich transferred to Civil Engineer Corps Officer School Port Hueneme, CA.  He was the Senior Enlisted Leader and instructor for the Seabee Readiness Division until 2010.  He taught MCPO/SCPO/CPO Management, NCF Operations, and CEC Basic Officer Courses.

In February 2010, he was selected for the Command Master Chief program. His first CMC tour was Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FORTY from April 2010 until July 2011.  During his tour with NMCB FORTY he made a deployment to Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. The battalion won the Battle ‘E’ and Peltier Awards. 

In August 2011, Command Master Chief Heinrich transferred to THIRTIETH Naval Construction Regiment.  The regiment made a six-month deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan as Task Force Forager, a multi service engineer task force responsible for all engineering efforts in the southern half of the country.

In May 2012, he transferred to THIRTY-FIRST Seabee Readiness Group.  During this tour he lead the command through decommissioning and the stand-up of Naval Construction Group ONE. 

In 2015 he was assigned as Staff Command Master Chief for Navy Expeditionary Combat Command.

Command Master Chief Heinrich is a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, Fleet Marine Force, Surface Warfare Specialist, and Master Training Specialist.

His personal awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), Army Commendation Medal, Joint Services Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (five awards).  He has earned numerous unit, campaign, and expeditionary ribbons and medals.
