I want to personally welcome you to the USS Little Rock (LCS 9) family. Little Rock is
comprised of two crews, Gold “Scorpions” and Blue “Warhawgs”. Both are eager to welcome
you to the world of Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). To better serve you please reach out to us via
the Sponsor Initiation Request on the website, or you may message your prospective crew on
social media. From there we will assign you a sponsor to help you in finding housing, navigating
the Jacksonville area, as well as finding your footing in the Crew. Should you encounter any
challenges greater than your sponsor’s scope; we also have a strong Chief’s mess with an
abundance of knowledge led by CMDCS Wiedemann, Gold and CMDCM Jackson, Blue
[cmc@lcs9.navy.mil].
Mayport is a city rich in history and culture. As part of the Jacksonville community, you
will find the services and support you are looking for. If you are seeking an outdoor adventure,
you have come to the right place. Take in the beautiful beaches or an evening stroll in historic
downtown Jacksonville. MWR also offers a variety of rural and urban activities from the
Jacksonville Zoo to kayaking the St. John’s River. Once you've taken advantage of some of our
outdoor activities, come try some of the local favorites, Safe Harbor to Taco Lu's, there is
something for everyone here in the Mayport area. For those of you who have children, Mayport
has an outstanding Child Development Center and Jacksonville has some of the best schools in
the state of Florida. You will find Mayport and Jacksonville have an abundance of opportunities
for you and your family to explore.
Little Rock is fortunate enough to be part of Littoral Combat Ship Squadron 2 and
Surface Division 21. Both entities support Little Rock’s mission, Surface Warfare. When on hull
you are a part of the typical shipboard operational experience that is inherent in the Navy’s “tip-of-the-spear” warfare. The Esprit de Corps and camaraderie generated by working hard
alongside one another is priceless. When off hull, we will conduct training, maintain/obtain crew
certifications, support our sister crew, and enjoy some time with loved ones. LCS is a growing
community of hard working Sailors forging the future of Naval warfare. We are excited to meet
you and better get to know you as we embark on our time together.
