Lieutenant Commander Ethan A. Reber 
 

Originally from New York, LCDR Ethan Reber enlisted in the Navy from Florida in 1997. Following in-rate training, he served as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate on USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) deploying in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.


In 2002, he was selected to the Seaman to Admiral-21 program, through which he attended the University of Florida, and commissioned an Ensign in 2005. In 2012, he received his Masters of Science in Modeling, Virtual Environments, and Simulation and from the Naval Postgraduate School. He holds additional postgraduate certificates in Anti-Submarine Warfare, Space Systems, and Nuclear Weapons Effects.
 
LCDR Reber served as First Lieutenant and Engineering Auxiliaries Officer on USS HOPPER (DDG 70) from 2006 to 2008. While assigned to HOPPER, he deployed to Southeast Asia in support of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2006 and as part of TARAWA Expeditionary Strike Group to the Fifth and Seventh Fleets. He reported to USS MONTEREY (CG 61) as Training & Readiness Officer in 2008 and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with the THEODORE ROOSEVELT Carrier Strike Group as Fifth Fleet Maritime Regional Air Defense Commander. From 2014 through 2017, Ethan served as Weapons Control Officer and Combat Systems Officer on USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51), and deployed with the GEORGE H. W. BUSH Carrier Strike Group as Fifth Fleet Ballistic Missile Defense Commander. He is currently serving as Commanding Officer of USS HUÉ CITY (CG 66).
 
Ashore, LCDR Reber served in the Trainers and Simulation Directorate as an Advanced Shiphandling and Tactics Instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School Command, Newport, RI. His most recent assignment, was as a Global Force Management analyst and planner at U.S. Fleet Forces Command.
 
LCDR Reber’s personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and various unit, campaign, and service awards. He has been recognized with the Surface Navy Association’s Award for Excellence in Surface Warfare Research; the George L. Phillips Award for Modeling, Virtual Environments, and Simulation; the Navy Marine Association Department Head Leadership Award; and is a proven subspecialist in Modeling & Simulation.
