CDR James Walker, a native of Petal, Mississippi, graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Art degree in History.
CDR Walker’s sea duty assignments include: Work Center Supervisor aboard USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54) in Yokosuka Japan, First Lieutenant and Combat Information Center Officer aboard USS Simpson (FFG 56), Damage Control Assistant aboard USS Bainbridge (DDG 96), Detachment Officer in Charge (OIC) for Riverine Squadron 1, Chief Engineer aboard USS Nitze (DDG 94) and Staff Director and Material Officer (N4) in Destroyer Squadron 2 and was the Executive Officer in USS Ramage (DDG 61) before taking command in July 2021.
Ashore Walker has served as the Project Officer for Engineering Assessments Atlantic and Project Officer (N44) for Commander Naval Surface Forces Atlantic.CDR Walker has a master’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in National Security Affairs.
His personal decorations include Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medals, and various unit, campaign, and service awards.
